Holidays
Yesterday we celebrated our nation's Independence Day. Today, we're celebrating my sister's birthday. This makes for a busy weekend, following a really busy week.
Went shopping with the girls yesterday (Mama, Nanny and Michelle) and actually drove home from Target. That's right, I DROVE HOME!! I was a little anxious, and really careful - I stayed in the right lane the whole time. It wasn't very far, but to me it was a giant step towards my independence, and a step towards regaining a small portion of my former life.
I'm not sure how long this journey's going to take - that's the journey through all of the reconstructive surgeries, getting my bite lined up again, and the prosthetic eye. A lot of you know that I was nearing the end of a five year journey involving my TMJ and bite, and was literally weeks from getting the permanent crowns when the accident happened.
It looks like mornings are the most difficult time of day for me and my anxiety about this journey. The emotions sweep past, and I'm still here. I know I'm not alone; I know that I have something yet to be accomplished. I know that all of our prayers are going to help me through this, and that the hard times will make us stronger. I know I will get through this. I will be a better person for it, not a bitter one!!
Thanks again for all of your prayers and support.
Katie
